Abstract: It is well known that field lines should start only at plus charges and stop at minus charges. This conclusion is referred to as property 1 of field lines. Do you know that this property is the logical result of Gauss' theorem? A few textbooks thus make a logical error by“proving”Gauss' theorem using this property.
